…where I live, write, and write about

living!

One my favorite quotes is from a friend of mine who said “The key to life is to fall down six times and pick yourself up seven.”  Rather a profound statement considering my first love is to write about real life and the many exciting things that are ours for the taking. I started writing fiction at an early age, even before I knew how to get it down on paper. There was no loss to my childish imagination and thankfully no one cared. In fact, most have been rather supportive and at times insistent that I pursue my creative side. As I understand it,  I’m not the only one they see benefiting from such an outlet.

My creativity lends itself to many mediums, but my heart has always favored the written word. Something about its ability to touch so many lives at once and leave a lasting legacy somehow strikes a chord with me. Despite the success I’ve already enjoyed I always feel there’s room for improvement. So, this Fall I’ll be attending the University of Houston to continue my studies in Creative Writing where I plan to hone my craft even further. For those who have been following my current WIP, don’t worry. The way I see it, school will allow me the opportunity to edit, perfect, and love my story into a form worthy of more wide spread publication.

Meanwhile, check back on Tuesdays to participate in the weekly writing prompt; a means to unlock your inner self and discover what talents, thoughts, and desires are buried within. You never know what you might find.

Enjoy!
